Thieves make away with booty worth Rs 61.30 lakh from Dhantoli and Rs 1.17 lakh booty from Sonegaon area

Thieves broke into two houses in Dhantoli and Sonegaon areas and made away with cash and booty worth lakhs of rupees on Sunday.

A senior citizen paid heavily for going on a picnic with his family as unidentified broke into his house and looted cash Rs 40 lakh along with gold jewellery collectively worth Rs 61.30 lakh. The theft took place on Sunday between 10.30 am and 8 pm when Ramkumar Shankarrao Motghare (61), a resident of Manendra Smriti Apartment, Chitale Marg had gone to picnic with his family at Star Key Point.

Police informed that the thieves entered Ramkumar’s house by removing a glass from the window. They stole Rs 40 lakh cash and gold ornaments collectively worth Rs 61.30 lakh from the wooden almirah. Ramkumar, in his complaint, stated that he discovered the theft when they came back from picnic on Sunday night. He immediately informed Dhantoli police who later booked the unidentified thieves and registered an offence under Sections 454, 457, and 380 of the IPC.

In another case, thieves stole gold jewellery from the house of Vishal Vilasrao Pimpalkar (33), who had gone to Amravati with his family. The theft occurred on between January 30,2013 and February 2 while the family was away from home. Vishal, a resident of Manish Nagar, said in his complaint that he discovered the doors unlock when they returned from Amravati on Sunday. They rushed inside the house to discover the theft. He informed that thieves took away gold ornaments worth Rs 1.17 lakh.

On the basis of Vishal’s complaint, Sonegaon police have booked the unidentified thieves and registered an offence under Sections 454, 457 and 380 of the IPC.
