The MAMI Film Festival had faced a lot of hurdles last year while raising funds. Sources claimed that many celebrities had donated substantial amounts to stage the event.

However, this year round, Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI) got a great impetus with Deepika joining the Boards of Trustees which includes the present Board Members to the likes of Anurag Kashyap, Farhan Akhtar and Karan Johar.

Last year, the Academy faced a lot of controversies over funding and had Kiran Rao taking over as the Chairperson. Riteish Deshmukh and Siddhart Roy Kapur are also the two new members of the Board of Trustees.

The leggy demure actress decided to be a part of the Academy which creates a new platform for young talents. Deepika claimed that, MAMI is India’s leading film festival and that she is proud to be part of this festival. It’s a wonderful space to discover and nurture fresh talent, build audiences and interact with other talent from across the world.

The MAMI Film Festival showcases cutting-edge independent cinema, art house fare along-with Bollywood, Hollywood and Cult International Movies.

The 17th Edition of the event will be held between October 29 and November 5, 2015.
