Nagpur News : The tension, frustration and anger of Std X and XII students reached a new height when schools demanded them to prepare Unique Identification Number (UID) before the examinations. Earlier, students were juggling between the tensions of dates and now submission of UID cards has added to their tension.

The State Government has issued a directive to the school to submit UIDs of their students. Now, schools are pressurizing the students to submit the UID cards before examination or they will not be allowed to sit for the examination.

Students are left with less than a month to prepare for their board examinations. And such pressure from schools, are increasing the already all time high tension of the students.

Government had issued orders to submit UID of students from Std I to XII one month ago. But, there is no mention of time within which these cards are to be submitted. Some schools are forcing their students to submit UID cards before their examinations. However, these schools have not made any arrangements for easy way out for the students. Students have to go to the centres to make these cards. Queue at the centres are very long. Students are baffled since their presence is must while making the card. This has created a panic among students.

Some students said that since the order was issued just a month ago, Std X and XII students could be exempted from submitting UID card before examination. They said that Std X and XII students should be asked to submit these cards after their examination. It will pull off the stress of UID cards of the shoulders of students. Students will be able to concentrate fully on studies.

In Nagpur, Wipro and Karvi Companies are given the responsibility of UID cards. In 15 centres, there are only 35 machines to complete the procedure of UID cards. Out of these 35, Karvi has 10 machines while 25 machines are of Wipro Company. There are approximately 6 lakh Nagpurians who are yet to make their UID cards. And restricted number of machines proves less than helpful to make cards easily and in time. Students are spending a good time of the day standing in the long queue waiting for their turn to come.

Dr Jaspal Singh Saluja, Principal, Guru Nanak High School said, “Government should give relaxation to Std X and XII students as they need to focus on studies. Students are worrying more about UID cards. Thus, their studies are suffering.”
