Tata Magic driver thrashed by 12 persons in a case of mistaken identity

In a case of mistaken identity, a group of 10-12 unidentified persons bashed up a Tata Magic driver and also ransacked his vehicle assuming the vehicle was involved in a hit-and-run incident causing death of a man. The beating of the driver and damaging his vehicle as well as the accident sparked tension in Old Kamptee area on Tuesday morning. Many persons have been booked in this connection.

The trouble started when Mohd Sohel Mohd Yunus (27), resident of Jaibhim Square, Kalamna, had parked his Tata Magic vehicle (MH-31/CQ 1430) opposite Chaudhary Hospital, Kamptee Road and was seating passengers around 9 am on Tuesday. In the meantime, a speeding truck (MP-20/HP 2064), going towards Jabalpur, crushed a middle-aged man to death near the spot where Mohd Sohel had parked his vehicle. Fearing public wrath, the truck driver fled the spot. The deceased, Abdul Mukim Abdul Gani(46) was a resident of Kader Zenda Chowk. The group of 10-12 accused persons, assuming Mohd Sohel caused the accident in which Abdul Mukeem was crushed to death, started thrashing him and also damaged his Tata Magic vehicle putting him at a loss of Rs 40,000. This incident sparked tension in Old Kamptee area with a huge resorting to rasta roko. The residents blocked the highway for about half an hour demanding arrest of the truck driver as well as the accused who bashed up Mohd Sohel.

Old Kamptee PSI Mahipade has registered case under Sections 143, 145, 149, 427 of the IPC and searching for the accused.
