New RTMNU Administrative Building Foundation Stone unveiled by Chief Minister

: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has categorically assured of all financial and other assistance for a new state-of-the-art Convocation Hall for RTMNU.

The Foundation Stone of the New Administrative Building of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) was unveiled by Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis. A Bhoomipujan ceremony for the new administrative building of RTMNU which is proposed to be constructed on Ambazari Road near University Campus was held on September 26, 2015.

Chief Minister Fadnavis was addressing the audience in a programme organized at Gurunanak Bhavan after the ground breaking ceremony. Vice Chancellor of RTMNU Dr S P Kane presided over the programme, while Chairman of Bajaj Auto Limited Rahul Bajaj, Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Pramod Yeole and Director of College and University Development Board Dr Dineshkumar Agrawal were prominently present.

While elaborating on his commitment to provide all assistance to RTMNU, he said that a state-of-the-art Convocation Hall which will be unique and like none present in any university will come-up next to RTMNU’s new Administrative building. He added that apart from the programmes of the University, the Hall could be given to other organizations of high repute. He claimed that he himself has received his degree in a convocation held long back. In order to pay-back the debt he owes to the University, he assured of all assistance from the State Government in building the new state-of-the-art Convocation Hall, said the Chief Minister.

Reputed industrialist and Chairman of Bajaj Auto Limited Rahul Bajaj was speaking about his association with Mahatma Gandhi and said Gandhiji’s thoughts and ideals are being followed by his family in spirit and in letter. Rahul Bajaj announced about the donation of 50% of the total cost of the construction of New Administrative Building of RTMNU.

Vice Chancellor of RTMNU Dr S P Kane in his address said that the New Administrative Building of RTMNU will be completed within two years. This building will be of state-of-the-art. The RTMNU needed such modern building for administration of imparting a quality education to its students. The State Government should help RTMNU in this endeavour said Dr Kane.

Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Pramod Yeole in his address appreciated the help provided by Bajaj Group of Industries which they are fulfilling the conditions of Corporate Social Obligations. New Administrative Building of RTMNU will have Ground plus three floors. The Building will house offices of the ground floor will house the offices of the Vice Chancellor, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Registrar, BCUD Director, Finance and Accounts Officer, Director Student Welfare, General Administrative Department, Adult Education Department and Office of NSS. The construction is likely to cost Rs 24.52 crores. This entire building will be a green building (Environment friendly).

At  the outset, a welcome song was performed by students followed by lighting of traditional lamp by dignitaries. Registrar Puranchand Meshram Welcomed the guests. The programme was conducted by Dr Komal Thakre.

Others who were prominently present on the occasion include MLA Sudhakar Deshmukh, MLC Prakash Gajbhiye, Bajaj Family, RTMNU Officials and students.
