Stampede at Simhastha Kumbh in Ujjain kills 4, over 70 injured

Ujjain/Nagpur: At least four people were reported dead and over 70 injured when a pandal collapse in Ujjain’s Simhastha Kumbh triggered a massive stampede. The collapse was caused by a storm in the region.

As it stands, Simhastha Kumbh is regarded as the world’s biggest religious congregation, which means a huge gathering of humans at any given point in time during the mela.

Ujjain Simhastha is a Hindu religious mela held every 12 years in the Ujjain city of Madhya Pradesh. The Simhastha Kumbh is scheduled to be held from April 22-May 21. Ujjain. Over five crore people including seers are expected to visit the holy city.
