Nagpur: A police constable attached to State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) Group 13 shot himself dead with his service revolver at his residence in Jaitala under MIDC police jurisdiction here on Wednesday afternoon. The reason behind the constable taking the extreme step could not be ascertained immediately.
The deceased has been identified as Vinod Bhagwan Ghivande (29), resident of Plot No. 31, Datey Layout, Jaitala. Vinod had completed 8 years of service in SRPF. He was married four year ago.
Around 2 pm on Wednesday, Vinod shot himself with service revolver on his head. He died on the spot. Ironically, Vinod’s parents and wife were present in the house when the incident occurred.
MIDC police have registered a case of accidental death and mounted an in-depth investigation into the matter.
