Speeding truck kills two young boys in freak but fatal mishap in MIDC

Nagpur: In a freak but tragic accident, two young boys were killed when they were crushed under a truck that turned upside down while speeding. The fatal mishap took place in MIDC area on Thursday afternoon. The senseless truck driver fled the spot after the accident leaving behind his killer vehicle.

According to police, the truck (MH-40/n 9898) was being driven recklessly by an unidentified driver. When the speeding vehicle reached near Facor Company situated on Central MIDC Road, the driver lost control over the steering and it turned upside down with great force. At the same time, the two deceased Swapnil Sharad Wani (25), resident of Dombivali, Thane near Mumbai and Nikhilesh Nagorao Uike (23), resident of Gadchiroli were passing through spot on their motorcycle and came under the upturning truck. The speeding truck skidded both Swapnil and Nikhilesh for quite a distance and crushed them to death.

Soon after the mishap, the unidentified driver of the killer truck managed to flee the spot even as a crowd of angry nearby residents and passersby gathered there. MIDC police reached the spot and calmed down the situation and later sent bodies of Swapnil and Nikhilesh to GMCH for post-mortem.

On the basis of a complaint, MIDC PSI Barad has booked the truck driver under Sections 279, 304(A) of IPC read with Sub-Sections 134, 177, 184 of Motor Vehicles Act and mounted a hunt to nab him.
