Speeding truck crushes ex-Railway employee to death in Jaripatka

    Nagpur:
A retired employee of Railway was crushed to death by a rashly driven truck in Jaripatka area on Monday. The driver of the killer truck fled the spot fearing backlash leaving behind the vehicles. Cops have seized the truck and searching for the driver.

The deceased has been identified as Manikrao Ramteke, resident of Dixit Nagar, was crossing the road walking near Kamgar Nagar Square around 3.30 pm on Monday. At the same time the speeding truck (RJ-11/GA 4214) hit Manikrao with a forceful impact. As a result, Manikrao got hurled and came under the wheels of the truck. He died on the spot. The unidentified driver fled the spot leaving his truck behind fearing backlash from angry passersby and nearby people. It is gathered that Manikrao was on a stroll as usual when the tragedy occurred. Manikrao used to walk long distance but never used to cross the Kamgar Nagar square. But this time Manikrao tried to cross the busy square and it proved fatal for him.

Jaripatka cops reached the spot after getting information about the tragedy and after completing the preliminary investigation sent body of Manikrao to Mayo Hospital for post-mortem.

Family thought Manikrao at relative’s house:
On Monday, when Manikrao did not return home even after a considerable time, his family though that he must have gone to some relative’s house. However, subsequent enquiries revealed he was not at any of relatives’ house. This fact left the family anxious and tense. In the meanwhile, some passersby uploaded a picture of Manikrao on WhatsApp from the accident spot. The hazy picture provided a clue to the family that the photo might be of Manikrao. The family members immediately reached the Mayo and confirmed the body as that of Manikrao Ramteke with a heavy heart.

Based on the information, Jaripatka PSI Khare booked the unidentified truck driver under Sections 279, 304(A) of IPC and launched a search to nab him.
