Speeding motorcyclist hits divider, dies; pillion rider seriously injured

Reckless driving proved fatal to a middle-aged man after his motorcycle hit a road divider, killing him on the spot and grievously hurting pillion rider. The fatal accident took place under the jurisdiction of Koradi police station on Wednesday night.

Police sources said Pradeep Mahadeorao Savaitul (42), a resident of Buddha Nagar, Ashok Square, Pachpaoli, was heading towards Nagpur from Koradi on his motorcycle with his friend Raju Mahdavrao Ramteke riding pillion on Wednesday night. At around 9.30 pm, Pradeep was riding from Ganesh Nagar, Panjara when he lost control over his speeding bike and dashed into the road divider. Raju sustained serious injuries while Pradeep was killed on the spot. Commuters informed Koradi police and rushed Raju to Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital for treatment.

Koradi police registered an offence under Sections 279, 337, 304 (a) of the IPC.
