Nagpur: A senior citizen taking an evening stroll was knocked dead by a speeding motorcycle in Pratap Nagar area here on Sunday.
The deceased, Vasant Shankarrao Wakhare (64), resident of Plot No. 18, Ashok Colony, opposite Union Bank, was on evening walk around 7.30 pm on Sunday. Midway near Manjiri Textiles, a speeding motorcycle (MH-36/AD 2421) hit Vasant forcefully and injured him critically. He died on the spot even before medical help could be extended to him.
Pratap Nagar ASI Shelmake, based on a complaint lodged by Manoj Vasant Wakhare (42), booked the unidentified bike rider under Sections 279, 304(A) of the IPC read with Sections 134, 177 of Motor Vehicles Act and probing the matter further.
