Nagpur: To mark Moon Landing Day, Raman Science Centre and Planetarium in Nagpur is organising Science on a Sphere show on July20.
It was on July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong along with Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to step onto the Moon’s surface. To commemorate the historical event, a special programme, ‘The Moon’ is organised for the students and general public. The show portrays how the Moon was formed billions of years ago and explains various occurrences like phases of the Moon, why we see only one face of the Moon, etc.
The show will be conducted in Hindi language. Also an online quiz on the topic, ‘The Moon’ will be conducted by the centre for the students of Class 6 to 10. Dr G Sreenivasan, Scientist SG, Deputy General Manager, Regional Remote Sensing Centre (Central) ISRO, Nagpur, will be the chief guest. He will deliver a popular science lecture on ‘Exploring The Moon through Space Technology’.
