VIA Lady Entrepreneurs Wing had recently organised an informative session on ‘Entrepreneurship with a cause for Social Change’ by Dr. Aruna Gajbhiye, Associate Professor, Tirpude College of Social work and Dr. Deepak Masram, Associate Professor, Tirpude College of Social Work at VIA hall, Udyog Bhavan, under the able leadership of Shachi Mallick, President, and Reeta Lanjewar, secretary, VIA LEW. respectively.

On this occasion, earlier, Dr. Aruna Gajbhiye was welcomed with floral compliments by Shachi Mallick, Chairperson, VIA-LEW and Dr. Deepak Masram was welcomed by Prafullata Rode, Advisory Board member.

Dr. Aruna initially explained the meaning of Social Entrepreneurship. She said that Social Entrepreneurship connects with society directly. Social entrepreneurship is the need of the hour for a combined goal of social well being and livelihood for one and many. She also explained the difference between Entrepreneurs and Social entrepreneurs wherein she highlighted the major difference is the source of motivation. Social entrepreneur unlike Entrepreneur gets motivated by Social gain. She also went on to mention the areas in which social entrepreneurs have already started working and she also listed out the emerging areas which need to be considered by Social Entrepreneurs. With examples of social Entrepreneurs like Mahatma Gandhi, Vurghese kurien, Aditi Gupta, Anshu Gupta, Azim Premji, Devaji Tofa etc., she inspired one and all present to become social Entrepreneurs.

This was followed by talk by Dr. Deepak Masram. He explained in detail the way Devaji Tofa, Social Entrepreneur made extensive use of right to information and the villagers were allotted forest land by Government for the betterment of tribals.
He also highlighted that social ethics only thinks of ‘We’ which replaces ‘I’.

Madhavi Kavishwar, Social Entrepreneur and member of VIA-LEW shared her experience as a social Entrepreneur.

The program was well conducted by. Anamika Modi, Executive Committee member, .Reeta Lanjewar, secretary – LEW, proposed the vote of thanks. Prafull Lata Rode ,Sarita powar, Chitra parate, Y Ramani, Vandana Sharma – IPP , Indu kshisagar, Shikha khare, Rashmi Kulkarni, Poonam Lala, and Manisha Bawankar Lew members attended the program.
