Nagpur: As the number of vehicles is increasing with every passing day and space available for parking in the market areas is scarce, Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited (NSSCDCL) has decided to set up multi-level car and two-wheeler parking facilities to tide over the problem.
The Board of Directors has decided to go for merry-go round (Sky Swing)/puzzle parking. Dr Sanjay Mukherjee, Mentor and Chairman of Smart City, was present from Mumbai through on-line mode. Commissioner and Administrator of Nagpur Municipal Corporation(NMC) Radhakrishnan B, Board Members Aniruddha Shenwai, Ashish Mukim, Chief Executive Officer, NSSCDCL, Chinmay Gotamare, Company Secretary Bhanupriya Thakur and Chief Finance Officer Neha Jha were also present.
Gotmare said that mechanised multilevel car and two-wheeler parking is proposed at four places in the city and the spots are finalised with help of NMC to ease problems faced by the citizens. Multilevel car and two-wheeler parking arrangements have been proposed at Anaj Bazar, Itwari, Super Market, Sitabuldi , Gandhisagar Lake and Gokulpeth Market. Parking for about 150 cars and more than 600 two-wheelers is proposed at all four locations and they would go a long way in addressing the chaotic situation faced by citizens thronging the markets.
Besides, it was decided to install traffic signals on cantilever poles in 33 squares to facilitate smart traffic management. From Nagpur Airport to Samvidhan Square to LIC till Pardi the signal system will be affixed on cantilever poles. The current traffic signal is not clearly visible to motorists.
The Board also granted permission to create a mapped blue print using GSI mapping for sewage network and storm water drains. About 340 MLD sewage is being treated and Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) has provided 63 MLD plants. For mapping of 3000 km long sewer line, a Rs.4.80crore proposal has been approved.
