The Second Capital City of Nagpur, in recent times, is witnessing a spurt in disturbing incidents of minor kids going missing. In the past 48 hours, six minor kids have gone missing and reportedly been kidnapped. Two more minor boys and a girl went missing from different areas in the city on Wednesday apart from three kids who have gone missing since Tuesday.

In the first incident, a 17-year old girl, resident of Hudkeshwar area, left her home on September 22 without informing other members of her family. However, the girl has not returned home even after 10 days and went missing. The girl’s relatives searched the missing girl at all possible places but their efforts proved futile. Finally, a complaint was registered at Hudkeshwar Police Station in this connection.

Another 14-year old boy, scolded by his mother for skipping school, left home but did not return. The complainant Rekha Chandansingh Chauhan (40), resident of Ramji Ambedkar Nagar, Wadi, told police that her son Dheeraj left home around 10.30 pm on Tuesday (Sept 29) but did not return. Dheeraj was berated by Rekha for not going to school. A search of Dheeraj did not yield any result and hence a complaint was filed at Wadi Police Station regarding the missing boy.

Similarly, in a clear case of kidnapping, a 15-year old boy was abducted by three persons in Kalamna area on Wednesday. In a police complaint, Sharda Kamalesh Thakur (38), resident of Chikhli Square, near Gajanan Mandir, Kalamna, said that her son Vishwajit left home at about 5 pm on Tuesday for enjoying dance at a Ganapati pandal in the area. Vishwajit was reportedly kidnapped by the three accused namely Shailesh Chafle, Satish Kourti and Dadu alias Daddu Mendhe.

In all the three missing cases, cops from Hudkeshwar, Wadi and Kalamna Police Stations, following directives of Supreme Court that if any minor girl or boy goes missing then the case should be treated as that of kidnapping, have registered offences under Section 363 of IPC and searching to trace the missing three kids and the kidnappers as well.
