Despite the usually lively atmosphere in Sitabuldi, the accused took advantage of relatively deserted stretches during the night. The gang executed the thefts one after another, starting with a ready-made garments store named AR Mens, from where they stole around ₹10,000 in cash. Notably, the thieves even changed clothes inside the shop before moving on.
Their next target was Aashirwad Collection, where they reportedly took ₹45,000 in cash along with artificial jewellery. At Friends 18 Uniform, another ₹55,000 was stolen. The gang then broke into Sky Shoes, escaping with cash and even wearing expensive footwear from the store.
Finally, the accused looted approximately ₹80,000 in cash from Maya Mobile Shoppee. Interestingly, they avoided stealing mobile phones or electronic items, likely to prevent tracking.
The entire sequence of crimes has been captured on CCTV cameras installed in the shops. Footage reveals that the gang included a woman along with two male accomplices, all seen carrying out the चोरी fearlessly.
The incident has created panic among local traders, who have questioned the effectiveness of police patrolling. Reports suggest that several streetlights in the affected areas were non-functional, which may have aided the criminals.
Police have begun an investigation based on CCTV footage, but repeated incidents like this are raising serious questions about the city’s security infrastructure.
