Sitabuldi cops crack14 cases of mobile, motorcycle theft

Nine including six minors in police net

Nagpur: In a major breakthrough, Sitabuldi police arrested nine persons including six minors and solved 14 cases of mobile snatching and two-wheelers theft. Cops have also recovered 10 motorcycles and seven mobile phones to the tune of Rs 5.61 lakh form their possession.

The accused have been identified as Akshay Narendra Bansod (18), Nikhil Sunil Temburne (19) both residents of Lashkaribagh and Akash Kailash Ganvir (21) a resident of Motibagh.

Addressing the press conference at Sitabuldi police station on Saturday afternoon, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone II, Chinmay Pandit informed that, the accused would rob of people on knife point during the night. The stolen vehicles were stashed near at an isolated place in Pachpaoli, which were used to rob of mobile phones and chain snatching, he added.

Cops made breakthrough following the loot compliant at Anand Talkies Square. While scanning the CCTV footage, Sitabuldi police found a juvenile boy board on an Activa, who approached a man and robbed him of goods on a knife point. During the probe, police received a tip-off form an informer that, the boy with same appearance lives in Lashkaribagh under the jurisdiction Pachpaoli police.

The cops then detained the boy and during questioning by the cops, he spelled the beans and informed the whereabouts of other accused.

Cops have booked accused Akshay, Nikhil and Akash under Sections 394, 34 of the IPC and detained all the juveniles. Cops believe that the arrest may lead to further unearth similar cases in other parts of the city. Further investigations are on.
