Singare reviews working of NMC’s Market Department, asks officials to bring transparency

The Chairman of NMC’s Standing Committee Ramesh Singare on Tuesday reviewed the working of Market Department and directed the concerned authorities to bring systematic and transparent methods in assessment of land rentals and the vendors The meeting was held at Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Hall in Civil Lines office of Nagpur Municipal Corpoartion on Tuesday.

The meeting was attended among others by Standing Committee Members Deepak Patel, Adv Sanjay Balpande, Assistant Commissioner Market Department Milind Meshram, Market Superintendent Dinkar Umredkar, Joint  Market Superintendent and other officials.

At the outset, Ramesh Singare directed the officials to submit detailed information on the shops allotted under NMC’s Market Department across the city and in National Gandhi Market Complex in Sakkardara. He also sought information regarding the vacant shops and tenements (ote). The Assistant Commissioner Milind Meshram said that under all the NMC Zones, the number of shops is 2481 while the number of tenements is around 726. The number of open places in markets is 1419. The number of shops and tenements lying vacant in National Gandhi Market Complex Sakkardara is as follows: Big shops – 2, small shops – 26, shops reserved for MSEB – 3 and tenements 20.

The meeting discussed the issue of rentals to be applied in accordance with the rates of assessment. The issue of cycle, scooter stands at market places was also discussed. It was decided that the pending issues of cycle and scooter stands should be sent to the Standing Committee for arriving at a decision.
