Shut down of water supply postponed to prevent Haj pilgrims from facing problems

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Orange City Water (OCW) had jointly planned to take a 24-hours shutdown at Governor House (Raj Bhavan) Old and New MBR (Master Balancing Reservoirs) on September 22, 2014, which has been postponed since Haj Pilgrims will be gathering in the area and they will have to face lot of problems due to this shut down.

The OCW has informed the citizens at large that since the shut-down has been postponed till further notice, they need not worry about water supply.

The NMC-OCW had planned to carry out installation of 600 mm Isolation valve, New Inlet Connection and 400 mm Butterfly valve on Red Tank, 600 mm valve on Kanhan line, 2 air valves on Boriyapura Feeder and 600x 400 interconnection and 400 mm Butterfly valve at Teenkhamba. During the period at Pench-I WTP (water treatment plant) at Gorewada, OCW was to carry out some maintenance work like maintenance of HT structure, Transformer (HT & LT), Pench-1 incomer panel maintenance, Leakage arrest BT inspection and sand removal etc.
