Shoot out at Jaripatka, train vendors try to murder rival

Nagpur: Rivalry between train vendors took a bloody turn when a bunch of vendors tried to kill another by shooting from a country-made pistol. The accused vendors also attacked him with knives. But luckily he escaped the murderous assault as the gun misfired and the knife also missed the target. One of the assaulters has been arrested.

According to police, the complainant Yogesh Vasantrao Bhoyar (35), resident of Mhaisasur Slums, Punjabi Line, Gaddigodam, is chana vendor. Yogesh along with 7-8 other boys vend chana in trains on Itarsi line. Yogesh and others were doing good business. The accused named Salman, Motu, Mukka and an unidentified man are also doing the same business. On Tuesday, around 9 pm, Yogesh was sitting in front of his house.

At the same time, the four accused, armed with country-made pistol, sword and knife, arrived there and threatened to kill Yogesh apparently over business rivalry. Even before Yogesh could sense trouble, one of the accused Salman fired 2-3 rounds from the desi katta and tried to kill him. But luckily for him, the gun trigger got jammed.

Another accused Mukka whipped out a knife and hit Yogesh 2-3 times but this time also, the knife missed the target. Scared to the core, Yogesh ran to his house and closed the door for safety. Seeing their plan to murder Yogesh did not work, the accused fled the spot.

Jaripatka PSI S S Timgire, based on complaint of Yogesh Bhoyar, booked the accused under Sections 307, 34 of the IPC read with Sections 4/25, 3/25 of Arms Act. Cops succeeded in arrested one of the accused named Sheikh Shahrukh Sheikh Riyaz (22), resident of Motibagh, near Pahalwan Baba Dargah, and searching for others.
