New Delhi: A shoe was hurled on stage during Anna Hazare’s protest at Ramlila Ground on Thursday. The incident happened when Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was addressing the protesters and Anna Hazare was also present on the stage. It came on a day when Anna ended his hunger strike after six days of fast.

Reports say the person who hurled the shoe has been identified as Rajkumar Saini. He said that he wanted Anna to ask for a wall on the border, which the activist didn’t pay attention to and, hence, Saini was angry. The police have arrested Saini for throwing the shoe on the stage.

Anna Hazare, who had begun an indefinite hunger strike earlier this week, ended his fast today after Union Minister Gajendra Singh and Maharashtra CM Fadnavis met him at Ramlila Ground. Anna had begun an indefinite hunger strike at Ramlila Ground demanding a competent Lokpal and better production cost for farm produce.

Singh and Fadnavis visited Anna following reports of deterioration in his health. Anna’s doctor had said on Wednesday that his blood pressure was high and sugar levels low, which made him feel exhausted. Anna had also lost some weight due to the hunger strike.
