Shivshahi bus knocks pedestrian dead in Nagpur’s Wadi

Nagpur: A pedestrian was killed after being knocked down by a speeding MSRTC’s Shivshahi bus in a hit-and-run incident on Amravati Road in Wadi area Thursday evening.

Identified as Roshan Bansod (43), the deceased was a resident of Ward No 1, Surya Road Lines, Suraburdi. Bansod was crossing the road in front of Sarang Bar & Restaurant at Waddhamna around 6.30 pm. A Shivshahi bus (MH-06/BW-0140) driven at a high speed, hit Bansod injuring him seriously. The bus driver sped away. Bansod was rushed to Mayo Hospital but on the way, he succumbed to his injuries.

Later, Wadi Police nabbed bus driver Vijay Ashokrao Nikhade (43), a resident of Butibori, and arrested him on charges under Section 279, 304(A) of the Indian Penal Code, read with Sections 134, 177 of the Motor Vehicle Act, and started further investigation.
