Nagpur: Senseless attitude and shabby working style of Provident Fund (PF) babus deprived thousands of pensioners their pension for the month of January. The pensioners were left in the lurch as the PF office failed not remit pensions in banks accounts despite submission of life certificates (Jeevan Pramanpatra) in the month of November itself.
Notably, the EPF pensioners have to submit life certificate to the concerned banks in the month of November every year. As such almost all the EPF pensioners submitted the life certificate with digital Jeevanpraman provided by Employees Provident Fund office.
Enquiries revealed that the concerned banks promptly forwarded the bunch life certificates to the office of the Provident Fund so that no pensioner is deprived of pension. But despite the promptness on the part of banks, the senseless babus of Provident Fund did not take trouble to go through the bunch of life certificates of the pensioners. Instead they blocked the pensions of one and all pensioners irrespective of submission of life certificates.
An insider from the PF office revealed that the lethargic babus avoid going through the life certificates submitted in bulk by concerned banks. Instead they now wait for the deprived pensioners to submit life certificate afresh individually and then remit the pension in their banks. The tactic is to save themselves of trouble going through the bunch of life certificates. It is much easier to process 10 or 20 life certificates submitted by individual pensioners.
