Wadi Double Murder: Hunger leads to brutal killing, Accused habitual criminal!

Nagpur: Wadi police have been digging their minds to capture lead behind the motive of double murder that wreaked sensation in the area. Two people were killed by an alleged psycho criminal in the dark hours of Wednesday. One body was recovered near Ganesh Mandir slab, on Amravati Road, National Highway-6 hit opposite to Bharat Petrol Pump on Wadi-Khadgaon Road, at around 1:30 am. Even as the cops were engaged in on the spot investigation they received another call early in the morning at 6 am claiming that another unidentified body was found lying on the T-point of Khadgaon Road.

The cops noticed that this deceased too was murdered in a similar fashion. The modus-operandi seemed to be of the same offender who has murdered both the persons.

The deceased are identified as Shyamrao Wamanrao Khade aged 47 years and a resident of New Shivaji Nagar Shitala Mata Mandir in Gittikhadan and Om Amrut Giri aged 35 years and a resident of Lonar in Buldhana district.

Later it turned out that both were killed for the sake of money demanded by the killer. DCP Shailesh Balkawde informed that during interrogation of the accused identified as Dnyaneshwar alias Nana Bandu Raut aged 24 years and a resident of Pusagodi, Tandamotha in Katol tehsil, it was learnt that he had asked money first from Shyamrao as he wanted to buy some food for him. As Shyamrao refused to give, he got fumed killed the man and smashed his face with stones.

Police sources informed that Raut was on the prowl for someone who could give him money. He then noticed the second deceased Om Amrut Giri, a truck driver sleeping on the Khadgaon road turning. The accused killed him in a similar fashion and stole mobile phone from his pocket and fled the spot.

During interrogation, the accused confessed and said that he had given the mobile to a pan kiosk owner on the pretext of charging the phone and took Rs 100 from him to have food.

Earlier, senior police officials including Senior Police Inspector of Wadi Police Station B S Khandale, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ranjan Kumar Sharma and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-1) Shailesh Balkawde, Additional Commissioner of Police Shrikant Tarwade, Crime Squad and DB Squad reached the spot.

On the guidance and directions of the senior cops, the personnel of DB Squad and the crime branch combed the surrounding areas thoroughly. During the combing operation, the cops found a man with some blood stains on his jeans pant walking near Rahul Hotel in a suspicious manner. When questioned, his answers seemed to be vague. The cops suspected foul play and picked him up for questioning.
DCP Balkawde informed that Raut seemed to be a seasoned criminal who often used the guise of being mentally unstable to get away with many offenses. On sustained questioning and interrogation, the accused broke down and confessed to have killed or murdered both the deceased.

Cops seek public help
The cops have since seized all the stones used by the accused in killing the deceased, the blood stained cloth of the deceased, the mobile phone etc as evidence. The cops are since taking statements from the on-lookers and are going through the CCTV footage of the nearby shops to ascertain the chain of events. The cops have also requested the public who would have noticed something to come forward and report the matter. The cops have assured of complete secrecy of their identity.

How the deceased were identified
The son of the first deceased identified as Rahul Shyamrao Khade aged 21 years (complainant) and a resident of New Shivaji Nagar, Shitla Mata Nagar, Wadi identified the first deceased to be that his father Shyamrao Wamanrao Khade and claimed that he used to work as Security Guard at the Ganesh Temple on his complaint Wadi Police registered a case against unknown accused under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code.

The second deceased Om Amrut Giri was identified by the Cleaner / conductor of the truck which the deceased used to ply. The Cleaner / conductor identified as Balu Narabrao Vayad aged 23 years and a resident of Belora, Taluka Mata, Dist Jalna identified the deceased and on his complaint Wadi Police registered a case against unknown accused under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code.
