The government has started adapting to the changing economic and technological conditions in the country and is nor more proactive than ever before. The Central Board of Direct Taxes is also rapidly changing its working environment and steadily covering the loopholes in the systems which gave incentives for persons with taxable income go out of the net of Income Tax Department said Shri Pradeep Kumar Mitra, Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals), Nagpur during inauguration Sub Regional Conference on Income Tax organized by Western India Regional Council and hosted by Nagpur Branch of WIRC OF ICAI at Nagpur recently.

He further commented on the peculiar characteristics of Chartered Accountants with respect to self vigilance while undertaking the professional assignments on day to day basis. He said that Chartered Accountancy is a noble professionals and each member should ensure that the services are in tune with the expectations of the government and various stakeholders in the economy.

While discussing about the role of Income Tax Department, he commented that the department values the professional community and acknowledges the role Chartered Accountants play by giving continuous feedback and suggestions for changes in the department. He further said that knowledge of law and facts should be taken care by professionals while representing clients before income tax authorities. He complimented the Nagpur Branch of having very cordial relations with the department and organizing regular programs enriching the knowledge about Income Tax for the members.

CA. Umang V Agrawal, Chairman, Nagpur Branch, welcomed the members and guests to the seminar. He said that Income Tax practice remains the major area of practice for the professionals and therefore it is important for members to continuously update the changes in Income Tax Act.

While highlighting the increased use of technology by the department he said that time has come for members to get tech savy and understand the technological aspects within due time. He thanked the Income Tax Department for appreciating the service being provided by the Members to Income Tax Department.
