Security guard killed in Pannase layout

Nagpur News: A youth stabbed a security guard to death in Sonegaon police station area over an issue of liquor on Wednesday evening. Police have arrested the youth and his accomplice in this connection.

The deceased was Dnyaneshwar Ramdas Kumre (45), a resident of Pannase layout, near Kashibai Pannase School. Police said, Dnyaneshwar was working as a security guard in the under construction building at Plot No. 201, near Dr Ambedkar statue, Pannase layout, Bhamti. The accused, Shankar Jagannath Sharma (26), reportedly consumed liquor in the building premises frequently. On Wednesday evening at around 7 pm, Shankar along his accomplice came in his Tata Ace car to consume liquor. However, his plan was foiled when Dnyaneshwar stopped him and asked him to leave the premises. Enraged over this, Shankar took out a knife and stabbed Dnyaneshwar in the abdomen. The accused fled away from the spot leaving Dnyaneshwar in a pool of blood.

The complainant Mohan Gyaniram Tekam (42), who was present with Dnyaneshwar, immediately informed the police. Dnyaneshwar was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital but he was declared dead during treatment.

Panic gripped Pannase layout residents as the news of this bloody incident spread like a jungle fire in the area. Cops performed panchanama and registered a case under Section 302 against the accused. However, police arrested the accused Shankar Sharma, a resident of Plot no. 49, in front of Priyadarshini College, Manish layout, and his accomplice who was yet not identified.

During investigations, it was revealed that Shankar was a history-sheeter and addicted to liquor. Police are investigating the case further.
