SDPO Umred clerk held for molesting girl in Setu office

Nagpur: People standing in queue for caste certificate at Setu office brought fore molestation incident by a 31-year-old man to a young girl while in a line on Thursday afternoon. The accused, Ravi Sharma, a resident of Barde lay-out, was later known to be a government employee. Sharma is posted as clerk in Sub-Divisional police office, Umred.

The victim has recently taken admission for a professional course.

Police told that the 21-year-old girl was ahead of Sharma in queue to get the caste certificate. “Though she was feeling uncomfortable, she avoid since it was a long queue and crowded but people standing in the same queue noticed Verma doing indecent acts to the girl. He was immediately dragged out from the queue,” said police.

Verma was thrashed badly till Sadar police reached the spot. He was arrested and booked for molestation charges on the victim’s complaint. Police said that they are yet to check the surveillance cameras.
