NAGPUR: Four people suffering from Scrub Typhus have died in the last three days in Nagpur taking the total number of casualties from this disease to 12 in the district.

Around 44 people were diagnosed positive with Scrub Typhus whereas 60 others had symptoms of the disease in the city. Most of these patients have been taking treatment at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Nagpur.

The GMCH administration was reportedly finding it difficult to treat so many patients due to no cooperation from the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC). State Health Minister Deepak Sawant had inspected the situation at GMCH last week and had issued directives to take all possible steps to check the spread of the disease. However, the NMC is apparently not very serious on the issue.
