Nagpur: The Nagpur School Education Department has announced efficient measures to enhance student safety in the wake of a recent incident in Badlapur. All schools, including government, local body, and private institutions, have been directed to install CCTV cameras within a month. Failure to comply will result in withdrawal of grants and potential derecognition.
Meanwhile, parents are reiterating demands for GPS and CCTV cameras in school buses and vans, a measure initially proposed by former Police Commissioner Dr. K Venkatesham. Despite a pilot project, only a small percentage of buses have implemented this system, leaving approximately 95% of students without this critical safety feature.
The move comes after widespread outrage over the atrocities committed against two girls in a Badlapur school. The state government has vowed to take concrete steps to prevent such incidents in the future. Parents and educators alike hope that these measures will ensure a safer environment for students.
