SC says BCCI should follow all recommendations of Lodha Committee

New Delhi /Nagpur: The Supreme Court has sought reply from BCCI on implementation of Lodha Committee report. The apex court has given BCCI, four weeks to reply. The next date for hearing is March 3.

SC on Thursday made it amply clear that they want BCCI to fall in line and implement all the major recommendations.

On January 4, Supreme Court-appointed Lodha Committee recommended sweeping reforms and an administrative shake-up for the troubled BCCI by suggesting that ministers be barred from occupying positions, a cap put on the age and tenure of the office-bearers and legalisation of betting.

In a series of drastic recommendations, the three-member panel, headed by Justice (Retd) R M Lodha, also suggested one unit should represent only one state, while taking away the voting rights of institutional and city-based units.

The committee also suggested the restructuring of the BCCI’s administrative set-up, proposing the position of a CEO to run the daily affairs of the Board accountable to a nine-member apex council.

However so far various state organisations have shown very little interest to implement certain recommendations. The suggestion of ministers being barred from occupying position has not gone down well with state organisations where prominent politicians occupy plump post.
