Salman to pair up with Katrina in Rajkumar Santoshi’s next!

    Salman Khan, Katrina kaif
Rajkumar Santoshi, whose last outing was the dud Phata Poster Nikla Hero, wants to make a film with none other than Salman Khan. Reportedly, Salman has given his nod of consent. However, Santoshi who has had a string of flops in the recent past, is still having sleepless nights.

The Andaz Apna Apna filmmaker is waiting for Katrina Kaif to revert. Yes, Santoshi has asked Kat to rub shoulders with her ex Salman. We are sure Ranbir Kapoor is not going to like this piece of news, and you know why.

Anyway, so we go back to Santoshi’s film. We hear, the filmmaker wants a casting coup of sorts, come what may. A source reveals, “Santoshi wants to take no chances with the Salman film. He had been bogged down after PPNH sank and he wants to make this one work at any cost. If Kat does not do the film, Santoshi would love to cast Deepika Padukone. In fact, he had spoken to Deepika about it sometime ago- but things didn’t move forward on that front soon. So now, he has spoken to Kat.”

Interestingly, Santoshi’s Ajab Prem Ki… had Salman, Ranbir and Kat— but Salman’s cameo did not get him into any romantic space with Kat.

Kat last starred with Salman in Ek Tha Tiger. As for Deepika, her pairing with Salman seems to be star-crossed; there have been umpteen occasions when Deepika has been in contention for the lead role in a Salman flick but has eventually not found herself in- the latest one being that she may not do Kabir Khan’s next Tubelight.

Santoshi, who has many other hits like Ghayal (1990), Damini (1993), Pukar (2000), Khakee (2004) and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (2009) to his credit, has been trying to find his feet again after the 2013 Shahid Kapoor-starrer tanked at the box-office.

After PPNH’s failure, Santoshi had approached Anil Kapoor for a film based on the play Jis Lahore Nahi Dekhiya Woh Jamiya Nahi, which revolves around a Hindu and Muslim family in Lahore. However, the collaboration did not materialise.

Adds the source, “It would be a super cast if Kat agrees to play Salman’s love interest, especially now after her love story with Ranbir in real life has hit the rocks.”

Or, will Deepika cut her way in to break her jinx?
