Sakkardara cops foil dacoity

Sakkardara police, in a midnight action, foiled a dacoity at State Bank of India branch on Dighori Road by arresting three persons and recovered lethal weapons including a magazine-laced pistol, two rounds, a knife, chili powder and a razor blade. However, two other members of the dacoit gang managed to escape under the cover of darkness and are now subject of a massive manhunt.

Sakkardara police around 1 am of Friday (September 30) received a tip-off that some suspicious persons had assembled near SBI branch on Dighori Road in Motha Tajbagh. Acting swiftly, a team of cops rushed to the spot and surrounded the gang. Seeing the approaching police team, the gang members started fleeing the spot but were chased by the cops. After a hot chase, police succeeded in nabbing three robbers who were identified as Aslam Khan Mehboob Khan (29), Amjad Khan Akbar Khan (20) and Shakeel Khan Khalil Khan (33), all residents of Motha Tajbagh. Upon frisking, the cops recovered a magazine-laced pistol, two rounds, a knife, chili powder and a razor blade likely to be used in the dacoity.

However, two other members of the gang managed the escape the raiding cops in the cover of darkness and are being hunted.

Sakkardara API D M Chandan has registered a case under Sections 399, 402 of the IPC read with Sub-Section 3+25 of Arms Act and 137(1)(3), 135 of Mumbai Police Act.
