Sadar cops raid gambling den at Kamal Square, arrest 14 persons, mastermind escapes the net

Nagpur: A team of Sadar police, on Monday raided a gambling den and arrested 14 gamblers. Cops have also seized cash and other stuff, including three motorcycles, collectively valued at Rs 1,22,825 from the possession of the accused. However, the mastermind, who runs the gambling den, escaped the police net and is absconding.

According to details, the team of policemen, led by API Jumade, acting on a tip-off, raided the gambling den being run in the name of Golden Lottery Center, situated at Kamal Talkies Square, Shaniwara Market. The raiding police team found the 14 accused indulging in ‘Satta’ (betting) and gambling by taking money from other people. The 14 accused have been identified as Amit Satish Muley (31), resident of Kamal Square, Ganesh Shridhar Patil (32), resident of Balabhaupeth, Pawan Shiv Patil (33), resident of Lashkaribagh, Amol Bhimrao Dongre (30), resident of Indora, Arun Narayan Punekar (45), resident of Balabhaupeth, Navdeep Kamal Sakhre (25), resident of Siddharth Nagar, Teka, Dhanlal Vasant Satmudre (58), resident of Jaripatka, Kailas Sukhram Ganvir (23), resident of Nari Jaripatka, Rahul Babulal Kolhatkar (20), resident of Nari Jaripatka, Rupchand Varlu Ganvir (50), resident of Motibagh Slums, Nanak Avram Kavalramani (40), resident of Jaripatka, Dheeraj Gopichand Manvatkar (36), resident of Gaddigodam, Ashok Bhayyaji Bansod (52), resident of Jaripatka, and Pundlik Vishwanath Sonule (56), resident of Indora.

The cops booked all the 14 accused under Sections 4, 5 of Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act and arrested them. Police have also seized cash of Rs 15,290, other gambling material and three motorcycles collectively worth Rs 1,22,825 from their possession of the accused.

However, Raju Muley, the mastermind who runs the gambling den managed to give a slip to the raiding police and is absconding.
The raid was carried out by Sadar API Jumade, constables Mahadeo, Raghunath, Rajesh, Sanjay, Rajik, Jagdish, Ratnakar, Sunil under the directives of DCP (Zone No. 2) Sanjay Latkar.
