RTO’s Asst Vehicles Inspector manhandled on duty

Nagpur: An Assistant Motor Vehicles Inspector of RTO was heckled and manhandled on duty by Secretary of Auto Union over ‘harassment’ of auto owners. The incident took place in Dipti Signal area of Kalamna on Friday evening. The accused has been arrested.

The complainant, Mangesh Ramesh Rathod (38), Assistant Motor Vehicles Inspector, was on duty at RTO office in Dipti Signal area of Kalamna on Friday. The accused Harishchandra Narayan Pawar (60), resident of Pandhrabodi, and his two accomplices stormed the chamber of Rathod around 5.15 pm. The accused Pawar told Rathod that he is Secretary of Auto Union and questioned him why the RTO is overcharging auto owners for passing their vehicles. The accused caught hold of Rathod’s collar, heckled and manhandled him and thus created hurdles in his official duty.

Kalamna police constable Prabhakar Agre booked the accused Harishchandra Pawar under Sections 353, 186, 504, 506, 500, 34 of the IPC and arrested him.
