Nagpur: Once again the doctoral students of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) have got a rude shock with the varsity increasing their course work fee. In this regard it has already issued a notification and the course work will be held for 10 days.
A few days back the research students had met the RTMNU Vice-Chancellor Dr Siddarth Vinayak Kane and demanded to lessen the course work fee. The students were even expecting that outcome would be in their favour. But this year also the course work fee is Rs 7000. This course will be conducted in the UGC’s Academic Staff College, Amabazari from Dec 5 to 15. The date for sending application form is Dec 1, 2017. The responsibility of this course has been entrusted upon Dr Priti Dharmik.
Soon after completing the work course the research students have to deposit their course work certificate with Nagpur University. No student can carry out research work till he or she completes the course work. The course work has been started only by the Nagpur University. In other varsities it is conducted by ICSSR or is 10 days online course work. The fee is also not exorbitant like Nagpur varsity. The ICSSR course work is free for the students while the online course fee is 2050 and Instruction lesson fee is 3000. Presently, the instruction lessons have been stopped, as per information. According to the University Grants Commission (UGC) there should be standard Research Methodology Course Work. But the presently, both course works are of UGC arev going on. But RTMNU does not recognise the other course work. And so the students are forced to do RTMNU’s course work.
Talking about this course work Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Pramod Yewale said that the course work of RTMNU has been prepared as the the directions of UGC and the students can apply for the same on Dec1, 2017. About the fees he said that course work fee from last two years is Rs 7000. He also said that they do not get any grant for this. Besides, they have to bear the expense of the researchers called for the course work.
