Nagpur News: It is Summer time. It is exam time. And it is water shortage time, too. The students and teachers, who are already under intense pressure of examinations being conducted by RTMNU, have been left high and dry with thirst at various centers. The exam centers are facing the acute shortage of water as is the scenario in many parts of city. The water crisis has deepened in city with Sun God spitting fire, the usual phenomenon in Nagpur Summer. NMC’s bungling on water supply front and RTMNU’s blurred vision in anticipating the every-year-situation is adding woes to students and teachers at the centers.
At present, areas like Sakkardara, Mahal, Sitabuldi, Congress Nagar and many other are crying for water. And since the areas boast of many colleges, RTMNU set up exam centers in these colleges. However, the experienced University authorities utterly failed to gauge the situation arising out of irregular or no water supply in these centers. The students appearing for exams at the centers said, “We are already under examination stress. Quenching thirst during the examination time turns out to be an arduous task as there is no water. In this situation, concentration takes the severe beating which ultimately affects the exam, the very priority for many students. Same is the situation of toilets. The toilets are without water. And if there is Nature’s call, then the situation turns beyond imagination,” students lamented.
Some students bring drinking water in bottles from homes but that is another sort of problem, too. “The RTMNU and the colleges should have taken the steps to meet the crisis considering the Summer time and arrangements for adequate supply of water should have made before the start of exams,” said the students with anxiety and outrage as well writ large on their faces.
