RTMNU clarifies on deployment of ‘bouncers’

Nagpur University
In a move to calm down frayed tempers over deployment of bouncers in its Administrative Building, the Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) has clarified that the bouncers have not been deployed in the premises of the building. However, private security guards have been deployed at the Administrative Building of the university in order to thwart any impending trouble.

“Whoever wants to come to the university for official works they can come from Maharajbagh side gate. They are welcome. It is absolutely mischievous reports that the RTMNU has deployed bouncers at its Administrative Building to curb entry of students or any other persons coming for official works. Those private security guards deployed at the building are for protecting properties of the university. These security guards are not the bodyguards of Vice Chancellor or Pro Vice Chancellor,” the RTMNU clarified in a press release.

The university further said that any student or other person can easily enter the university premises after completing due formalities and can meet officials. A separate parking arrangement has also been made for visitors, the press release said.
It is pertinent to recall that media had reported deployment of bouncers at RTMNU Administrative Building ostensibly to curb entry of students who wanted to stage agitations over one issue or another. The reports sparked dissent among students and their organizations. Protests were staged at the RTMNU building. Alarmed by the frayed tempers, the RTMNU came out with the clarification.
