Nagpur: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Friday participated in the Two Crore Tree Plantation Drive of State Government. Sarsanghachalak Mohan Bhagwat planted sapling of a Neem tree at Mahal-based Headquarters of RSS in the presence of senior functionaries of the organization.
Talking to media on the sidelines of the function, Sahsarkaryavah Dattatray Hosbale said that RSS is totally involved in the tree plantation drive. “Due to lack of awareness, such kinds of work do not take place. The massive tree plantation initiative of Maharashtra Government is necessary for society. Next year, the RSS will run the show from all its branches,” Hosbale said.
It may be recalled that the State Government has drawn a three-year master-plan for conservation of environment. As part of the master-plan, the State Government with a slogan “Ekach Lakshya, Don Koti Vriksha,” undertaking a ‘Two Crore Tree Plantation Drive” across the State. The drive is being participated by NGOs, social organizations, Government departments, citizens, students in large numbers.
