Rs 24.53 lakh looted from 3 ATMs in city on a single day

Nagpur: In an audacious act, a gang or gangs of desperadoes targeted three ATMs of different nationalized banks and collectively looted staggering cash of over Rs 24 lakh in a single day. The daring robberies at “well-guarded” ATMs rattled the Police Department and sent panic wave across the banking sector.

In the first incident, the gang of robbers struck at Syndicate Bank’s ATM situated on Wadi-Khadgaon Road. The burglars cut open the cash section of ATM machine and laid their hands on Rs 2.83 lakh.

The second robbery took place at Central Bank of India’s ATM in Wanadogri area of city. The miscreants successfully smashed the ATM machine and cleaned it with hopping cash of Rs 16.99 lakh.

The third target of the gang on looting spree was ATM of UCO Bank in Hingna. The well-equipped desperadoes broke this ATM as well and decamped with Rs 4.71 lakh.

The amount stolen from the three ATMs collectively stands at Rs 24.53 lakh. The single-day looting rattled the Police Department at the time when entire top brass is stationed in Nagpur for Winter Session of Maharashtra Legislature. The daring heist also sent shockwaves and panic across the banking sector.

A few days ago too, ATMs in Wardha were targeted by the miscreants. It is surmised the same gang could have been involved in the heist at three ATMs in Nagpur.
