Robbery of Rs 8.15 lakh in Manish Nagar

Nagpur News: Unidentified thieves burgled jewellery collectively worth Rs 8.15 lakh from Manish Nagar area under the jurisdiction of Sonegaon Police Station on Friday night. The incident took place on the intervening night between Friday and Saturday. Durgesh Surpatne (39), a resident of Manglyanagari, Pipla Road, Besa, owns a jewerelly shop ‘Maa Anusuya Jewellers’ in Manish Nagar.

On Friday, he locked the shutter of his shop and went back home. Some unidentified thieves broke open the shutter between the intervening night of Friday and Saturday and gained entry in the shop. They looted 209 gm gold and 6,500 silver from the shop and fled away.

Neighbours near Durgesh’s shop informed Durgesh about the broken lock of the shutter. He rushed to his shop only to find the theft. He informed Sonegaon Police Station. Sniffer dog team and finger experts were called at the spot. Police said, there was no CCTV camera installed in the shop, thus, no image of the thieves could be recovered. But, police have assured to nab the thieves ASAP. Further investigations are under way.
