Nagpur: Making a breakthrough in a long pending issue of 30-metre road-widening from Wanjari Nagar water tank to Ajani railway bridge, the NMC held a meeting on Aug 3 with railway officials, wherein the cooperation from railway department was sought. The railway agreeing to cooperate, requested the NMC to change the alignment of road, as the present alignment was obstructing the construction of Kendriya Vidyalaya building on the land of railways.
It was pointed out in the meeting that then NMC commissioner Lokeshchandra, accepting the request of railways had granted permission to change the alignment, but with the condition that the widening of old cement road be done at the expense of railways through CPWD. But, the work remained held up for various reasons.
Now this time, Mayor Datke directed the NMC administration should start the 30 metre road widening immediately with installation of a signboard for the work in progress.
The meeting was attended by NMC Commissioner Sharavan Hardikar, MLA Sudhakar Kolhe, Dy mayor Munna Pokulwar, standing committee chairman Ramesh Shingare, former standing committee chairman Narendra Borkar, Balu Bante, executive engineer Dilip Jamgade and others. Later, all these persons carried out spot-inspection of the site.
