Rly staff’s wife ran over by rashly driven truck; Irked mob crowds Ajni police station

Furious mob gathered at Ajni Railway Station following a death of woman who was run over by a rashly driven truck. The woman died on the spot early Wednesday morning at 8.30 am under Imambada police station.
The deceased Monika Rastogi (40), resident of Ajni Railway Quarters, was on her way to Ajni Railway Station to book a reservation ticket. She was taking a turn for the railway booking counter on her scooter (MH 31 DP 9572) when a truck (MH 31 CB 7855) rammed into her two wheeler. The truck being reversed after unloading material at a general stores near the railway station. The truck driver did not notice Monika’s vehicle and eventually knocked her. Monika lost balance and came under the rear wheels of the truck. Such was the impact that Monika died soon after being struck.

Witnessing the bloodbath, passersby lost their cool and gathered near the accident spot. Fearing wrath of the public, the ‘killer’ truck driver escaped leaving the truck on the spot. Onlookers informed Imambada police about the accident.
Cops performed panchanama and later sent the body for post mortem to Government Medical College and Hospital. Meanwhile, Railway police also reached the spot after receiving this information.
The preliminary investigations reveal that Monika was wife of Pravin Rastogi who works as Senior Section Engineer at Electric Locoshed, Ajni.

It must be mentioned that an array of car parked on the road side of Ajni Railway Station hinder the smooth flow of traffic in the area. Although parking is facilitated inside the station, many car owners prefer to park their vehicle on the road side which results in such accidents where these cars block the view of the drivers. Many accidents could be avoided if these illegal parking in the area are taken care of.
