Nagpur: The Inaugural Ceremony of Two days, “National Conference on Recent Trends in Chemical Engineering and Technology” – REACT-2016 was held at Gurunanak Bhavan. Dr. S.P. Kane, Vice Chancellor, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University has presided over the function. The chief guest was R.A. Gujar, Deputy Chief Controller of Explosives, Gov. of India, guest of honour was Dr. Swapnesh Baser, Director, Deven Supercriticals Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai. Chairman of the Conference Dr. R.B. Mankar, Director, LIT,Nagpur, Convenors, Dr. R.P. Ugwekar, Head Chemical Engineering and Dr. B. A. Bhanvase, Associate Professor were on the dais.
The programme commences with the Vidyapeeth and Vidnayan song .Dr. R.P. Ugwekar briefed the audience about the event. He informed that REACT started in 2014 and this is the third consecutive year of this conference, this year we have 55 Original Research papers from the faculty from NITs, IISc, NEERI and various colleges across the country, 70 student papers and more than 50 posters. The best papers from Faculty section will be published as edited book at an international platform with Apple Academic press, Canada. There is also a chemical quiz which has received a tremendous response. The Paper presentations will be done in five parallel sessions on 27th and 28th February 2016.

Dr. R.B. Mankar addressed on this occasion with his valuable words. He said, that REACT is a platform for both researcher and students to come up and take the benefit and showcase their work. He also announced that next year REACT will be an International conference with the alumni coming from all across the globe to mark the Platinum jubilee of LIT. He also thanked the student committee who have left no stone unturned to make this event a grand success.

Dr. Baser appreciated the strong Alumni bonding which is quite rare in colleges today. Dr. Baser in his key note address explained the role of Supercritical fluid extraction in separation and purification of chemicals. He has revealed his original work in this field which ultimately adopted in industry and saved the cost to a greater extent and at the same time improved the quality of the product.

R.A. Gujar told that one should be a good a operator in order to be a good engineer that means you should know each and every minute part of the industry. We should have strong basics and clear our concepts to ease out our stay in the industry. He also urged the participants to think about start-ups and entrepreneurship. He further added that we should learn from our experiences because they teach us far more than the book. The dignitaries also released the Souvenir of React-2016 on this occasion.
Dr. S.P. Kane in his Presidential address said that chemistry is an indispensible part of human life. All the students and teachers and the staff members should work collectively in an integrated manner, only then will we get the best results just like as in a mixture, stirring is very important and only after interaction of all elements would we get the best result. And this is the purpose if such conferences, to bring everyone together.
