‘Re 1 help to farmer’ leaves Govt red-faced in Council

Nagpur: A printing mistake in the very first question of question paper left the Devendra Fadnavis Government red faced in Vidhan Parishad (Legislative Council). It happened when the Government, in a reply related to assistance provided to farmers, inadvertently informed help of Re 1 given to a farmer. Interestingly, the folly came to the notice to none other than Shiv Sena’s Divakar Raote, who himself is Minister. He pointed out the mistake rather embarrassingly. But the Opposition benches latched on the error and left no chance to corner the Government.

Coming clean on the issue, the Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse said that as soon as the mistake was pointed out in the House the Chairman had ordered an enquiry and directed the Legislature Secretariat to submit the report in the House on Monday. Khadse said that the matter is unnecessarily being raised by the Opposition. This is just a printing mistake. Who is guilty will be cleared on Monday, stated the Minister and pacified the members.

Govt attacks Oppn:
Replying to Opposition’s dictatorial charge, Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse said the rivals are leveling baseless charges. The Opposition itself is running away from the House proceedings. Unnecessary uproar is being created in the House for attending private works and celebrating a leader’s birthday Khadse said referring to Sharad Pawar’s birthday bash in Delhi. “The Opposition is not interested in running the House smoothly. It is politicizing the farmers’ plight by running away from discussion and proceedings of the House,” blasted Khadse.
