Rape of 2 kid girls: Maniac accused nabbed within 24 hours of CP’s orders

Nagpur: In a major breakthrough, teams of Crime Branch Unit 1 and Lakadganj police nabbed the maniac accused who raped two kid girls aged 4 and 6 at knife point at a secluded place on Tuesday night. The accused was arrested within hours of orders of a furious Commissioner of Police Dr Bhushankumar Upadhyay.

The arrested accused has been identified as Karan alias Bantya Deendayal Dange (20), a resident of Dipti Signal, Kalamna. It is learnt that accused confessed to committing the crime under the influence of alcohol.

Both the victimised girls have been admitted in Ward No. 26 of Mayo Hospital.

It may be recalled that in an outrageous incident that put the Second Capital City of Nagpur to shame, an unidentified man raped two kid girls aged 4 and 6 at knife point in Lakadganj area on Tuesday night. According to the complainant, a resident of Lakadganj area, her 6-year old daughter was playing with neighbouring 4-year old girl between 7 pm and 8.30 pm on Tuesday evening. While the two kid girls were playing, an unidentified man came there and told the innocent girls that he will drop them to their homes. On this pretext, the man took the two girls to an isolated place behind Haldiram Factory and indulged in vulgar acts.

Later, the pervert man scared the kid girls with a knife and raped them. The helpless girls, following darkness, were unable to find their homes and were wandering in the area with their clothes in hands. The nearby workers of the factory spotted the two girls. With blood-stained clothes, the workers immediately came to know that something horrible took place with the two tiny girls. They asked the girls address of their houses and handed them to their parents.

As the report over the heinous crime was flashed by Nagpur Today titled ‘Nagpur shocker: Man rapes two girls aged 4, 6 at knife point in Lakadganj,’ an angry Commissioner of Police Dr Bhushankumar Upadhyay had ordered the city police to arrest the accused at the earliest. The top cop had said, “We have taken this offence very seriously.

Four teams under supervision of seniors have been working round the clock to nab the culprit. Some suspects are identified and their verification is going on. The accused will not be spared,” he had declared. The Commissioner of Police further said that all police stations along with Bharosa Cell have been directed to visit specially slum areas, hold corner meetings and create awareness among residents and children not to accompany any unfamiliar persons. This exercise will be completed in entire Nagpur within 10days, he said.

Following the orders of Commissioner of Police, teams of Crime Branch Unit 1 and Lakadganj police swung into action and mounted a hunt to nab the accused. Within 24 hours, the cops detained a suspect around 0235 hours of Wednesday and subjected him to intense interrogation. During the questioning, the accused Karan alias Bantya Deendayal Dange, confessed the crime. With his confession, the accused was placed under arrest.

The successful task was achieved by Senior PI Bhanudas Pidurkar of Lakadganj Police Station, Crime Branch Senior PI Santosh Khandekar, API Kumbhar, Woman API Rakhi Gedam, PSI Praful Gadekar and other staff including ASI Ravi Rathod, constables Bhojraj Bante, Prakash Sidam, Vijay Hatkar, Ramesh Goud, Tejram Deole, Anil Ambade, Ajay Bais, Deepak Karokar, police sepoys RYashwant Dongre, Hiralal Rathod, Ram Yadav, Prashant Chachane, Deepak Sontakke, Firoz Pathan, Shivraj Patil, Bhushan Zade, Vasudeo Shirpurkar under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Dr Bhushankumar Upadhyay, Joint Commissioner of Police Ravindra Kadam, DCP Zone 3 Rahul Maknikar and ACP Walchandra Munde.
