Nagpur: Bowing to public pressure and “request” by Union Surface Transport and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari, the famous Rajkamal Beer Bar, which was operational at Ramtek since last 20 years, has been closed forever. Paryatak Mitra Chandrapal Chouksey, who is the Managing Director of Rajkamal Tourism, took the decision after receiving a letter from Gadkari. The decision was taken keeping in mind the sentiments of public, particularly the devotees of Lord Ram and the ‘request’ of Union Minister.
Chouksey informed the media that since last 15 years there were lots of agitations and demonstrations to close the bar, but he refused to look into the matter as those were politically motivated. But this time, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari personally requested the closure of the beer bar to create a better environment for devotees. Respecting the request of Gadkari, Chouksey decided to shut down Rajkamal Beer Bar.
“The purpose of operating the beer bar was to create more tourism in the region, but the request of such a dignity and national icon cannot be overlooked and hence the decision to close the beer bar” Chouksey said.
Chouksey further said that Gadkari had called him for a meeting in Nagpur where he also informed him about the development of new way side amenities on all National Highways of the country. The move will create huge employment opportunities and lead to rapid development of highway infrastructure.
