Talking to Nagpur Today, Raj Babbar said that his loosing the polls against General V K Singh (Retired) from BJP from Ghaziabad constituency in 2014 Lok Sabha elections was a terrible set-back. However, he assured that he will certainly bounce back and will win future elections.

While speaking about his film career, Raj Babbar said that he trained in the Method School of Acting at National School of Drama, which is involved in Street Theatre. He claimed that since Mumbai was where Hindi movies were made or shot, he moved to Mumbai from New Delhi after his training and started his film career with Reena Roy, one of the most reputed actresses of that time. He reminisced his first film that won accolades and fame and said that ‘Insaaf Ka Taraazu’ was one movie which will be etched in my mind for ever. He spoke of how he was frequently featured in movies made under the B R Chopra Banner.

While speaking about his political career, he said that he entered politics by joining Janata Dal in 1989, which was led by V. P. Singh. He later joined Samajwadi Party and was elected as the Member of Parliament for three consecutive times.

Raj Babbar claimed that he was a member of Rajya Sabha from 1994 to 1999. He was re-elected in the 14th Lok Sabha elections for the second term in 2004. He joined Congress Party in 2008 and was elected for fourth term as Member of Parliament in 2009, by defeating Dimple Yadav wife of Akhilesh Yadav and daughter-in-law of Mulayam Singh Yadav.

A very down to earth man, Raj Babbar is vehement about his convictions and carries no airs about him
