Nagpur: The first casualty of fiery rains and hailstorm that pounded Nagpur on Sunday came to the fore when a man was killed and his wife injured by a crashing wall. Ironically, curiosity played a major role in taking the fatal toll of the man and injury to his wife. Had the couple resisted themselves from coming out of their house and watch the nature’s fury the tragedy could have been averted. But the destiny!

The couple, Krishna Manik Bharatiya (44) and Varsha Bharatiya, residents of Plot No. 12, House No. 797B, Surendra Nagar, were in their house and watching the nature’s fury. But destiny had it, out of curiosity, both Krishna and Varsha, stepped out of their house and went to nearby Mahalaxmi Apartment as the verandah of Flat No. 3 and 4 had bore the brunt of rain and hailstorm. While the couple was standing at the verandah, the parapet wall of second floor caved in and came crashing on the tin of the verandah. The heavy debris directly hit heads of Krishna and Varsha and caused serious injuries.  Both were rushed to Hope Hospital. However, doctors pronounced Krishna ‘brought dead.’ Varsha is undergoing treatment to her head injury.

Dhantoli Senior PSI Jadhav, on the basis of information given by Sandeep Satyanarayan Bharatiya (34), has registered a case of accidental death and investigating the matter further.
