Rail Budget: A visionary document commit dominance of policies

Nagpur: The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), apex body of the business community of the Country has termed the “Railway Budget” as a visionary document speaking committing dominance of economic policies on political compulsions. The CAIT has lauded the professional approach envisaged in the Railway Budget presented today in Parliament by Rail Minister Suresh Prabhu.

Modi Government has presented a development oriented railway budget which has spelled out priorities in rail sector and has focussed mainly on strengthening of Rail infrastructure in the Country-said B.C.Bhartia, National President & Praveen Khandelwal Secretary General of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) white reacting to railway budget presented by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu today.

CAIT Bhartia and Khandelwal in a joint statement today complimented Rail Minister Suresh Prabhu for his pragmatic approach reflected in Rail Budget and said that the Govt taken Railways from bureaucratic system of working without entailing any financial burden. The Railway Minister has chosen the route of the Public Private Partnership, Outsource & Foreign Investment in non operational area which makes rail budget as a competent document which will drive Indian Railway to International standards.

Both Bhartia & Khandelwal said that it would have been more appropriate if special focus would have given in Rail Budget for augmentation and streamlining of Rail freight Infrastructure which could lead more revenue to Railways. However, the Govt. has tried to address all the railway related issues. On the one hand the Govt. has taken on its priority safety, speed, scale and servicefor the passenger and has expanded the railway connectivity to integrate remote areas with main railway lines. The trust upon cleanliness of railway stations and trains will boost image of railway and curb nuisance of flies and filth.

Both trade leaders urged Railway Minister to laid greater emphasis on availability of quality food prepared in most hygienic conditions. It has been seen that beside Railway Contractors even the Pantry Cars attached to different trains are running in most unhygienic condition. They have suggested that a Special Task Force comprising of Senior Officials and Passengers may be constituted to monitor food service in Railways.

Both Bhartia & Khandelwal said that the Railway Minister has come out with open mind & clean hands. The budget provisions clearly indicates that good homework has been done to understand Indian Railway’s short comings, expectations of people & their relative solutions. The Railway Minister has looked into each aspect of passengers requirement. Due care has been taken for safety and security of the passengers, cleanliness of the Railway Stations, provisions for quality food and water, modern communication system and housekeeping will help the passengers for convenient travel.

This budget addresses major economic issues being faced by Country. It will generate employment through skill development & control Inflation by maintaining smooth supplies.It will also give boost to economic development through fast movement of raw material & goods. This budget will be looked as golden turning point of Indian economy-said Bhartia and Khandelwal.
