Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Somnath Mandir sparks row, marked Non-Hindu in register entry

Nagpur/Saurashtra: Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Somnath Mandir in Gujarat on Wednesday sparked a major controversy. His entry in the Security Register of the Mandir has been marked as Non-Hindu. The entry was made by Congress Media Coordinator Manoj Tyagi. Similarly, entry of Rajya Sabha member and Sonia Gandhi’s Political Secretary Ahmed Patel has also been made as Non-Hindu.

It may be mentioned that according to rules of Somnath Mandir, entry of Non-Hindus visiting the temple has to be made in the Security Register.

The Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi is on campaign trail for Gujarat Assembly election. He was in Saurashtra’s Veraval town. The Congress leader visited the nearby Somnath Mandir and performed Jalabhishek. In the past three months, Rahul Gandhi, who is set to become Congress President on December 5, visited a number of temples in Gujarat.
